GEDCOMS TO GO, or GED2GO for short, is a program that is intended to prepare a GEDCOM file for public distribution. GED2GO has two primary functions: (1) living persons are removed from the GEDCOM, and (2) an estimated birth date range is added to all individuals that lack a birth date. In most cases, the only user input required is the filename of the input and output GEDCOM. GED2GO completely removes the record of a living person, together with all references to that individual which might occur within another record. The program automatically determines which persons are probably still alive, even if dates are missing. Missing dates are estimated from all available relatives data. Rather than simply removing simple details such as birth dates, GED2GO removes the entire record of a living person, together with all references to that individual which might occur within another record, such as a parent or a child within a family record. If both parents of a family are removed, then the entire family record is wiped out.
