CMP lets you specify a line width for comparison, as well as a number of lines for look-ahead. This lets you use available memory most efficiently. You can store often-used options in an environment variable instead of typing them on the command line every time. Two versions are included: a 32-bit version that runs in a DOS box under Windows and supports long filenames, and a 16-bit version that runs in DOS 2.x and above.

File Compare Utility is utility for comparing ASCII files and directories. The changes are visualized in different colors and the different sections of text can be manipulated easily. In this window the different sections of text can be removed and inserted. When comparing directories, the files in a directory are first compared by size, and if the size is equal the contents are checked for any differences. The directory is then displayed in a list where the different files are colored differently.
